No, I am not watching the olympics. I don't watch because the sports don't really interest me. I don't really understand many of the sports as well.

Instead of watching the Olympics, I usually watch other shows, or do homework. I do those things because the Winter Olympics are not too exciting to me.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

1.

A. Many photographers or people in that industry, seem to edit photos in a way that is not allowed. Some of the people add things or take things away that were in the original picture. Some of the people that did this and then presented them to the public, have been fired and have had their photographs taken away or blocked.

B. This type of editing is not acceptable at all. It is not right for somebody to change things in an image that has to do with something so serious. The type of photos that they were altering, were harsh or violent images. It is good for people to know what's really happening in their country or other countries, and if people are making drastic changes, they don't get the real story.

I think this photo is the most unethical. It's the most unethical to me because it's one thing to crop or add something to a picture, but to publish something that didn't even happen is outrageous. These are two very important people and I'm sure people would want to know what happened at this debate. Since this did not happen, it could cause serious problems.

B. 

I think this photo is the least unethical. It's the least unethical in my opinion because it was only mountains that were moved closer together. Things that are natural or man made could look different depending on which way or angle you are looking at it. I'm sure that most people wouldn't even notice or care that these two mountains had been edited in any way.

Cropping

In this photo, the cropping of these two women puts all the focus and attention on them. Since everybody else from the background is cropped out, it leads you to only recognize what is going on between the ladies.

Create Depth

This picture creates depth because there are things going on in the foreground, middle ground, and back ground. Since there are many different 'grounds', the eye mentally separates them, therefore creating depth.

Viewpoint

In this picture, the fact that it was captured from ground level gives it a better viewpoint. It helps the photo to be more interesting and not as boring as it would have been if it was from eye level. I think it gives you a feel of how you would see it if you were walking by during this time.

Symmetry and Patterns

This photo shows symmetry between the twin towers, and since they are the largest thing in the picture, it draws your attention to them. The towers are the focal point and your eye automatically goes straight there.

Extra Credit - Reaction to story

The story was very shocking. It is incredible that people are brave enough to jump many story's from a building. I don't think I would ever be able to jump hundreds or thousands of feet, knowing that I might die. It's super sad that some people are put in situations like that in which they have to make those kind of decisions, to jump or not.

Avoiding Mergers

This photo is a good example of avoiding mergers because the focal point are the people standing and the demolished building. There is enough room around the people so that they are not cut off by the picture is any way. Also, there is a clear view of the building and nothing that is too close to it.

Framing

The tree's at the bottom of the photo put your attention on the Verizon truck and a little bit of focus on the dusty cars in the background.

Balance

In this photo, the trash on the floor and the items in the background balance each other out. Most of the garbage is on the right and a person's focus will go straight there and then see the little things in the background.

Lines

The lines in this photo make it feel like we are going down with the man. Since the lines are vertical and the man is falling vertically, it seems to add motion to the picture. The fact that the lines are all the same size but different color, adds a cool feel to the picture.

The Rule of Thirds

In this photo, the girl on the right makes it very interesting and seems to help it balance out. It creates depth because of her in the foreground and the burning building in the background.

Simplicity

This photo demonstrates good simplicity or background because the main focus and, all you can really see, is the flag. The background doesn't draw attention and there is hardly one there. The background is not distracting.
